Where Good Neighbors and Good Servicemen Meet
Writing Reports
Koolness Verified
The Kool Konnection is like a club. After each transaction the members write good things about one another. They do this to help each other.
Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. Philippians 2:4 NKJV
There will be a small percentage of Kustomers and Kontractors who misrepresent themselves as kool. Those who are irreparably unkool will be excommunicated. See Advertising Limitations. It's critical that reports be honestly written, and that we at Word of Mouth Pages pay attention.
Before writing your first report, you should access and print the Sample Kustomer Report.
So everyone will be on the same page, let's consider how the Kustomer will evaluate the Kontractor—point by point.
When Does the Repairman Arrive?
A repairman never knows what he will encounter on a job, so he can't be sure how long it will take. The Kool Kontractor is committed to excellence, and that means the next Kustomer must be patient. Please allow considerable latitude when it comes to arrival time. That means you can't fault a Kontractor on punctuality. See Scheduling for additional information.
Pricing Agreement
If the job is being done "Time & Material," feel free to add little side jobs along the way.
But what if you and the contractor have agreed to a specific job at a fixed price? While the job is in progress, people sometimes find extras. Remember, extra work requires additional compensation.
When to Not File a Report
Sometimes there's a personality clash—that's okay. If the serviceman is not right for you, he might be perfect for your neighbor. This situation is what we call a neutral. If you can't file a positive or a negative, then DON'T FILE A REPORT.
Filing the Report
Give a simple explanation, based on what is expected of a Kool Kontractor.
The Kool Kontractor
- Is dependable.
- Does good work.
- Gives sound advice.
- Charges a reasonable price.
- Stands behind his work.
- Looks out for your interests.
- Tells the truth.
- Does not use Flat Rate Pricing.
With today's cell phones it's not hard to stay in touch. A Kontractor may respond promptly, but not be able to do your repair job. At least he won't leave you in the dark.
Your Primary Goal
The first priority is a good repair job, done within the time frame to which the Kontractor commits. Everything else is peripheral.
Be Charitable
The other day, we were finishing a really grueling job. The lady of the house said, "Don't worry about the clean up; we'll take care of it." I can't tell you how much I appreciated her kindness. When you work really hard, the clean-up can take that last erg of energy you need to drive home.
Don't Major on Minors
If your repairman does good work and effectively meets your needs, try to overlook side issues. I hired a temporary worker for an attic job. His appearance left something to be desired, but he showed up and did a good job—I was grateful. In today's world, good help is hard to find.
Bottom Line
If the Kontractor is unkool, we want to know it. But if his claim to koolness is accurate, we want to encourage him. We also want to pass the word along to others who need his services. Now get something fixed and write a kool report.
