Where Good Neighbors and Good Servicemen Meet

The Coming of the Lord

When the housing market collapsed (summer of 2008), a series of events began that caused many Christians to believe the coming of the Lord was near.

The present world-wide economic crisis could lead to a centralized world government. (The idea of a New World Order, with a one world government, is consistent with prophecies given in Daniel and Revelation.)

When it comes to prophecy and its fulfillment, the Lord truly moves in strange and mysterious ways. To understand God's ways is to better understand the Second Coming.

  • God tells what He will do, but not "when" or "how."
  • Scripture contains numerous proof texts that confirm the Word.
  • God waits until His people have given up hope.
  • The answer comes in the least expected way.
  • And God's people are surprised when the event occurs.

The Promised Son

God promised Abraham a son, and then waited 25 years until he and Sarah were so old that child bearing was humanly impossible. When all hope was gone, Isaac was born to Abraham and Sarah.

The Exodus

A famine caused Abraham's descendants to become slaves in Egypt. Moses was called to lead about 2 Million souls out of Egypt. They found themselves with the Red Sea ahead and Pharaoh's armies behind. They were trapped.

When there was no human answer, the Lord intervened. God dried up the Red Sea so the Israelites could pass safely to the other side. The Egyptian army pursued, and was drowned.

The First Coming

Israel had become a great nation under King David, but that was followed by periods of captivity. Prophets like Jeremiah helped people connect with the Lord, but after Malachi there were 400 years of prophetic silence.

Finally, Israel was under Roman rule, and they groaned as did their ancestors in Egypt. When the answer came, it wasn't what they expected. The ultimate answer is always Jesus, but only Simeon and Anna actually recognized the babe in the manger as the Messiah.

Just before His Crucifixion, Jesus told His disciples what was ahead, but His words were beyond their comprehension. Even after the Resurrection, they had trouble believing.

The Abrahamic Covenant

God promised Abraham that his descendants would become a great nation, that their land would have certain boundaries, and that all nations of the earth would be blessed through the Jews. God didn't say "when" or "how," and the saga continues. We still await the complete fulfillment of that promise; it will occur when Christ returns.

The Second Coming

The Bible is replete with references to the Second Coming and to signs that point to Jesus' return to earth. We are told in both Acts and Revelation, He will come in the clouds. At this time in history, we see more signs of the Second Coming than ever before, but when it actually happens, most people will be surprised. Many will have given up hope.

When every human effort has failed, when there is no earthly hope, Christ will return. The Resurrected Christ and His Resurrected brothers will together rule the earth. The world will be rescued from chaos—re-created and restored—as it was before the Fall.

The center of earthly government will be Jerusalem, and Jesus will be King. The fulfillment of the Abrahamic covenant will be complete, and the eyes of the Jews will be opened.

". . . they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn (Zechariah 12:10, KJV).

Since Jesus will judge the living and the dead, every man would be wise to prepare for His return.
